CHAPTER ONE | BUILDING THE VEHICLE

2024 is coming to an end and what an incredible year it has been. We have finally brought to life the vehicle which will one day take us back home to the motherland, ‘HUGOH’.

HUGOH represents a couple things…

• HUGOH is a collective providing intellectual capital to the next generation of humanitarians.

• HUGOH exists to empower, engage and inspire the younger generation to use their talents and creativity to become effective humanitarians.

• HUGOH encapsulates my life pillars, Sustainability, Finance & Africa.

HUGOH enables me to achieve my goal of: (1) exposing more diasporans to sustainable development work and (2) educating young Africans on how to use their talents and creativity to build the future that they desire.

Currently, in my professional career, my work revolves around Sustainable Investing. I work as an analyst in asset management focused on ESG & Sustainability. My work helps drive inclusive growth and the climate transition in the public markets. My objective is to develop deep expertise in the field of sustainability so that I can transfer this skillset into the work I carry out with HUGOH.

So far I am working on developing my expertise by acquiring multiple certifications: in Sustainability & Climate Risk as well as ESG Investing. These will go hand-in-hand with the real-time, sustainable development experiences I gain through HUGOH.

HUGOH strives to promote three of the UN Sustainable Development Goals:

• SDG 4 - Quality Education

• SDG 11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities

• SDG 13 - Climate Action.

For a long-time I thought my destiny was to become a development practitioner in Africa but now I realize that I can do far more with the opportunities God has exposed me to. I realize that the impact I can have back home in Nigeria, can be way beyond my wildest imaginations, all I need to do is dream bigger.

I believe that developing expertise across sustainable investing, social impact and international development, will allow me to create positive social change in Africa. My experiences will enable me to acquire the capital, connections and competencies required to launch my very own development consultancy, 'HUGOH Partners'.

HUGOH Partners will be my chosen vessel to contribute to the development of Africa.

HUGOH Partners will be built upon three tenets: Policy, People and Programmes.
